Monika is a PhD scholar at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore and a visiting fellow at Boston University. Her research critically examines democracy and nationalism in India beyond Eurocentric frameworks, with a particular focus on civilizational paradigms. Engaging deeply with Indic thought, she explores its foundational principles in comparison with Western and other civilizational models, emphasizing themes of endurance, resistance, and epistemic autonomy. Her work positions India as a uniquely resilient civilization with its own philosophical grammar.
Monika has published works on Indian political thought, especially in contexts that challenge Western normative standards. She is particularly interested in interrogating the structural limitations of social sciences in India, drawing inspiration from the work of Shri Rajiv Malhotra. Her forthcoming research investigates the psychological and epistemological impact of colonialism on Indian identity, aiming to contribute to decolonial scholarship and civilizational studies.
