Chirantana Institute of Introspective Studies

Chirantana Institute of Introspective Studies is a non-profit, non-political and non-sectarian organisation working towards encouraging the habit of self inquiry and development of self knowledge. Its goals lie in unfolding the path towards gnana through studies derived from the Vedas to understand and experience true independence. Chirantana welcomes everybody who wishes to embark on the journey to take charge of their well-being. Our kutumba consists of families, children, youth and inspiring mothers and elders who have taken the sankalpa to not only know themselves, but improve themselves everyday. Our ancestors used these lanterns to guide them on their journey: Shruti- The Vedas, Smriti, Puranas and Itihasa. Chirantana draws on these rich sources of knowledge to pave our paths to acceptance of oneself and the other. We find our roots in the principles expounded in these texts, distinguishing ourselves in our search for true self, letting go of what is assumed to be self. By building a community through intergenerational interaction, we stay roooted to the past, learning from our elders as well as adapting to the demands of the modern world. Chirantana employs introspection and discussion to foster an environment of curiosity and inquisitiveness towards the self and world. It develops mature thought by providing a space to explore various aspects and arrive at rational decisions. We emphasise problem resolution by drawing focus to the bigger picture, encouraging critical thinking, solution oriented thought and acceptance of the present.
