Deepa Kiran

Deepa Kiran is the founder of Story Arts Foundation, a professional storyteller and story-arts based educationalist. Her musical storytelling inspired by the stories and oral storytelling traditions of India, appeal to audiences, in local & international platforms.

She is the first Indian storyteller invited to Iran. She’s performed musical-storytelling of ‘Meera Bai’ in Tehran, ‘ Devi Mahatyam’ in Austria, and other stories from Itihaasas and Puranas in Edinburgh, South Africa & around the world, enchanting global audiences with the rich aesthetics and joy of Indian oral traditions.

With guidance from Hari Kiran Vadlamani Garu & Prof Dr Nagaraj Paturi, she has been associated with INDICA since 2017. Co-curating the conference on ‘Indegeneous Storytelling Traditons of India ‘, facilitating the Meta-Retreat on ‘Oral Storytelling Traditions’ as Acharya, teaching courses with Indic Academy ‘ Yoga and the Story Path’.

And has presented papers at Indica’s Theertha-sthala conferences including ‘Pedagogy, Education & Heritage of India’ at Ujjain, ‘Feminine in Hinduism’ at Guwahati, and ‘ Saivism’ at Varnasi.

In her roles as cultural ambassador, she is a resource person since 2014, for EFLU English & Foreign Languages University’s ITP – International Training Program. Introducing Indian Oral Traditions to professionals from around the world.

And a Resource person with CCRT – Centre for Cultural Resources & Training, since 2013. Training teachers from Central government schools of India, on l, ” Using Storytelling as a Pedagogical tool for Languages and Subjects.”

She’s worked with close to 1,00,000 teachers in India & globally, growing ‘ Art of Storytelling and Using it as a Pedagogical Tool ‘, located in the cultural context of the learner; towards learning & development of : language & communication skills, critical thinking and socio-emotional intelligence.

Deepa is a recepient of National Award from the government of India, Consortium of Education Communication for, ” Best E-Content “, educational videos for teachers for UGC EMRC, 2016.
